Abstract

Fish hatching technique which is used as a raw material of fish chips is done in order to speed
up the harvest time. The harvest period is expected to be less than three weeks, using electronic devices to support the gynogenesis process. Gynogenesis is the process of zygot formation of eggs without the
contribution of genetic material of male gametes. Therefore the new population only inherit the female
genetic characteristics. This experimental study involves some steps: designing a tool for sperm quality
selection by using centrifugation method, and arranging sperm irradiation process to get UV irradiation
dose/intensity and length of irradiation time. UV irradiation is a process of irradiation using a certain
intensity of UV ray and a certain amount of irradiation for the sperm which aims to weaken fish sperm
genetically. Without male gametes, the number of chromosomes in eggs remains 2N (diploid). The result shows that males with healthy spermatozoa are able to fertilize more. The number of hatching eggs can increase using the sperm selection process. Raw materials can be harvested within three weeks, this is because female fish grow faster than the male one.
