Abstract

Solar panels are an option for renewable energy sources. The electrical energy generated by
solar panels is obtained from sunlight and is affected by the intensity of sunlight that falls on the panel.
The greater the intensity of light received by solar cells the greater the power output. This paper
discusses the optimum intensity of sunlight using dual axis solar cell tracker by modeling the azimuth
angle and elevation angle. Every one hour the tracker moves automatically with the angle of movement
acording to the calculation of azimuth angle and elevation angle. Dual axis tracker is driven by a DC
motor in each axis controlled by a microcontroller. From the test results obtained that with the tracker,
solar panel output power can reach up to 63 W maximum, whereas without a maximum power tracker
only 59 W (in the same position and the same load), using the tracker, power that can be absorbed
every hour is 149 Wh
