Abstract

The objective of this research is to study the performance of horizontal axis wind turbine has
three-layer triple flat blades. The design of this turbine model is the development of a multi-blade flat-type
wind turbine design which is currently used in the field. The turbine model has 9 flat blades that are grouped
into three, each three layered. The turbine performance characteristic test is performed on both models
was made. Test the turbine performance characteristics performed at various wind speeds. The test results
are shown in graphical form of turbine performance characteristics. Based on the graph, turbine
performance is compared descriptively. Based on wind turbine performance test, flat triple wind turbine is
better than multiblade wind turbine at wind speed variation 8 m / s - 11 m / sec. The highest power
coefficient value is obtained at 8 m / sec with variation of inter-distance distance 3 cm blade with a blade15º
angle of 13.6042. While the multiblade power coefficient value  of 5.77518
