Pemanasan Katalis Tembaga dalam Muffler untuk Mereduksi Gas Buang Motor Bensin

Abstract

Increased air pollution resulting from incomplete combustion of gasoline engine in particulate
and gas form. The exhaust gases are carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxide (NOX), sulfur oxide (SOX),
and unburned hydrocarbons (HC). The efforts to reduce exhaust gas by installing copper catalytic
converter and and adding heaters. The objective is to determine the optimum reduction of CO and HC
before and after the catalyst is installed. Knowing how much percentage of optimum reduction of exhaust
emissions. Determine operating temperature during optimum exhaust gas reduction. Data obtained in
laboratory experimental method and then compared standart. The optimum result when the standard
4,99% CO and HC of 492ppm, when installed catalysts of 3.12% CO and 104 HC. The percentage
decrease of optimum HC by 49,02% and CO equal to 49,69% against standard. The reduction of exhaust
emissions occurs when the temperature is 500 ° C
