Abstract

To overcome the drought, one of the most inexpensive, fast and effective strategies and
immediate results is to harvest runoff water and stormwater in the rainy season through water harvesting.
The research aims to analyze the volume capacity of small dam to overcome the drought that occurred in
Putukrejo Village, Kalipare Sub-district, Malang Regency. The research begins with a water balance
analysis to determine the needs and availability of water that can be accommodated and sourced from
rain. Based on the analysis result obtained water requirement for dry month that is equal to 36,029 m3
projected until year 2026. Calculation of water availability obtained by doing dependable flow analysis
by using FJ. Mock method, while to design the spillway using flood discharge using rational method.
From several alternative locations the location of the embung was chosen at an elevation of +512 meters
above sea level, by using a 2 year return period is 2.07 m3/s. The obtained volume capacity is 40,000 m3
with 2 meters height and 2 hectares of storage area can solve the drought problem in Putukrejo Village.
